We are all very aware of a certain virus (that shall not be named) that has taken the world by surprise. We all have been affected by it in some way. Whether that be your graduation was canceled, wedding canceled or postponed, trips canceled, not being able to see your friends and family, unemployment, the list goes on. You may be feeling down, angry, lonely, lost, fearful, hopeless…but I’m here to tell you today that you don’t have to be! There is hope! His name is Jesus.

God created the entire world in six actual days. He said, “Let there be light,” and there was. He spoke, and the world came into existence. God is that powerful, that all-knowing. The first two people to ever be created were Adam and Eve. God made them perfect and had a personal relationship with them. One day, they were tempted by the devil, believed his lies, and fell to sin. Sin is anything we think, say, or do that displeases God, and we are all guilty (Romans 3:23). Everything changed from that point in history. Sin separates us from God, and the penalty is death (Romans 6:23). But the story does not end there. God loves us so much and wanted to make a way for us to be with Him again. He sent His only Son Jesus to come to earth, live a perfect life, and die for our sins. He was tortured and died on a cross for YOU AND ME. What a love! Recently, we just celebrated Easter. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. Three days later, He rose from the dead! Death could not hold Him. He is alive! Through Jesus Christ, we can have salvation. The Bible says in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” You just have to believe. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Nothing we do can earn salvation and eternal life in heaven. If we had to earn our salvation, then why would Jesus have to die on the cross? He paid it all! It is all of Christ! “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) Our hope is in Jesus not in this world. God is on the throne. We do not need to be afraid! He created the world. Nothing takes Him by surprise. No pandemic, no war, no difficulty. Everything happens for a purpose, we just have to trust God and live by faith. He holds the whole world in His hands. img_6357

Do not put your hope and trust in how much money you have, your things, your job, who the President is, or how well life seems to be going. There are things we cannot control, but we can have peace when we trust God.

“You (God) will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3)

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

So many times in the Bible does God promise us peace when we trust in Him. He loves you! Jesus gave His life for you. There is much unknown and life is constantly changing, but we can have confidence in the unchanging, all-knowing, unfailing God. He is always there for you, and He wants to have a relationship with you.

So to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ out there who are struggling with fear, anxiety, and loss: remember where your strength comes from! I encourage you not to forget God, but to trust Him. We have a hope that does not waiver. It is not affected by what goes on in this life. Worship the Lord for all He has done for us. Worship the Lord because of His greatness. He is worthy of our praise!

And to those of you who are struggling with fear, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior: I encourage you to place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ! You can have peace knowing where you’re going after you die. You can have peace trusting in God. There is hope!
