The “half-up faux hawk” is a fun take on just a normal half-up hairstyle or french braid, because it combines the two styles (with a little extra flair of course) into one super cute style that can be worn pretty much anywhere and anyway! Back to school, or a night out, dressed up, dressed down…possibilities possibilities! The faux hawk hairstyles in general are so cute and have a funky, bold, edgy and elegant look all in one! Here’s how to do it⇒
Step #1
For this style, I went with straightened hair, but curled looks cute too. So first, straighten or curl hair.
Step #2
Take a section of hair from the top of the head (from the ear to the side part of the section should be about 2-3 inches on each side), and tie it off to keep it out of the way for now.
Step #3
Take the two sections from the side of the head (right under the top section) and pull them back and tie together.
Step #4
Now french braid the top section.
Step #5
Last step is to do the finishing touches! Pancaking the braid (pull out/fluff out) is the most important last step. This really makes the french braid stick out like a faux hawk, and it gives more volume. Hairspray those stubborn pieces, and (if you would like it to be more secure) you can bobby pin the pulled back section and the french braid.
And you’re finished with your half-up faux hawk!
That’ll wrap it up for this hairstyle…Thanks for stopping by, and if you try out the “half-up faux hawk” tell me how it went in the comments below, or leave any tips you might have!
Until next time,
